Knowing where fish are in certain weather conditions, time of day, times of year, and feeding times are a great advantage. Who says hunting isn’t for women. Every year more and more women are getting into hunting and the outdoors. Even women that aren’t into hunting still love to wear camo and why wouldn’t they it’s freakin cool. Get a variety of women’s camo here for great prices.
Spring turkey hunting is a great way to be able to continue hunting. Many people think once deer season is over then it’s no more hunting till next season. They couldn’t be more wrong. So don’t put up your camo and shotguns or bows just yet. The hunt is still on.
For those of you who haven’t done any turkey hunting this post could be very educational. Turkeys are very smart and they can see 180 degrees around them. Which means they almost have eyes behind their heads. You have to be well camouflaged and very still.
Here are a few tips for a successful hunt.
1. Scouting
The most important thing that you can do is get out in the woods and do some scouting. Sit and listen and watch for birds. You can’t expect to go out into the woods and kill a turkey if you have no idea where they are. If you have a gps that could help you even more. When you hear or see some turkeys you can mark your spot on your gps and it will take you right to that spot.
2. Find Where They Are Roosting
Once you find turkeys pay close attention to where they go to roost. Once you do that you will have a great chance of getting one to come to you on the morning of your hunt.
3. Use A Couple Different Calls
You should use a few different types of calls. Toms can be very picky as to which type of call they will respond to. I suggest getting at least 3 types and practice with them until you get good at it.
4. Use Decoys
Decoys are a big advantage in getting a Tom to come into shooting range. Get a couple of hen decoys. You can even put out a Tom decoy near your hen decoys. Combine this with good calling and you should have a successful hunt.
5. Weather is Key
Weather is often a major influence on turkey hunting success. Weather affects turkeys behavior in different ways.
Fog can keep turkeys on the morning roost later. Extreme heat may find midday birds loafing in shaded areas near water. Heavy spring snow may keep turkeys from regular feeding and strutting patterns. Clear and calm spring mornings with a bright rising sun often result in good roost gobbling, allowing you to find birds. Wind will often send birds to low wooded areas.
If you remember these tips you will have a great advantage over a very smart bird. Just remember practice with some calls and be very well camouflaged.

A trolling motor is one of the most important pieces of equipment for a successful fishing trip. It is almost important as your boat motor. If you have a trolling motor that don’t perform very well or is of poor quality then your fishing trips can get pretty frustrating.
I have taken the cheap route in the past in choosing trolling motors and it didn’t take me long to regret it. I live in southwest Louisiana and we have several marshes to fish with plenty of trophy Florida bass. Marshes provide plenty of cover with tons of grass and Lilly pads. It is viable to have a strong trolling motor with good battery life. If you don’t your fishing trip won’t last very long.

Spring is fast approaching. It’s time to start inspecting your fishing gear and replace anything that might be broken, missing, or just worn out. It is no fun to get to your favorite fishing spot just to find out your trolling motor battery didn’t hold a charge, or that your fishing reels don’t work the way they did when you put them up in the fall.
It is so important to change the string on your reels before heading out to the lake. It is also important to have enough of your favorite baits and plenty of hooks and weights in stock. Be sure to also inspect your nets and ropes. A rotten net and rope could cost you a huge fish or cause you to possibly swim to your boat lol. These small things are often overlooked, but could be very upsetting.
Having good equipment is a big plus in having a successful fishing trip. Faulty equipment can ruin a fishing trip pretty quick. I encourage everyone reading this post to inspect your equipment thoroughly so that your first trip to the lake don’t end as soon as you get on the water.

Duck decoys are a big necessity when duck hunting. It will increase your chances of killing more ducks big time. If you have been duck hunting without decoys and later used decoys then you know what I’m talking about. It’s almost impossible to call in ducks Shen you have no decoys. Ducks aren’t stupid. They know something is not right.
There are several different types of decoys as well as many different species. It just depends on what species of duck your hunting to know what species of decoys to use. As far as what kind of decoys to use depends on how much money you want to spend. Decoys can get pretty pricey, but the mechanical kinds do make the decoys look like a real duck.
There are also things you can do to make decoys move manually. You can tie strings to them and run it to your blind. Have someone pull on the string and the decoys will move. When ducks see even a ripple in the water around the decoys they will come in. They just want to see some type of movement.
With a good set of decoys and some good calling your duck hunt should be a success. That is if there are ducks around of course. Duck hunting can be very fun and it’s a great feeling knowing that you are able to get ducks to decoy to your pond.
I was raised hunting a swamp off of the lacassine bayou in Hayes, Louisiana. I started hunting with my dad at a very young age. The swamp in my opinion is the most beautiful scenery Louisiana has to offer and watching wood ducks hit the water just makes it that much more beautiful. 
If you have never hunted a swamp I suggest you do it at least once if you have the opportunity. I’m sure you will want to go back. Occasionally if you are hunting an open area you might get some mallards to come in early, but you will mostly kill wood ducks.
The only drawback from hunting the swamp is that your hunt may not last very long since the limit is only 3 for wood ducks. However they don’t always light where you are hunting. If you are patient enough you can do some calling and they will swim right to you. Many times if you let them get in a line and aim for the head you can kill 2 or 3 in a shot.
If you have a hen and 1 or 2 males come in shoot the gen first. Many times the males won’t fly away because they usually stay with the female. I don’t know how many I have shot a female and the males act like nothing happened.
Another thing to know is not to try and shoot them when they are flying. Chances are you won’t hit them because there are so many trees and you will ruin any chance of them coming in where you are hunting.
You will need a good set of waders when hunting the swamp. The water isn’t really deep but the mud is soft. You will sink in it a little bit when retrieving your ducks.
Hunting the swamp can be very rewarding and a whole lot of fun. Every year I deer hunt till the rut is over then I head to the swamp and duck hunt till the season is over. There are times that I might even squirrel hunt and maybe even get a few rabbits on my way out of the woods. That’s my how my hunting season goes every year. That’s the benefits of hunting the swamp. There’s always something to hunt.
